I attended Granada Hills High School here in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. After I graduated, I attended the University of California, Berkeley, including studying in Germany during my junior year. After graduating from Berkeley, I attended Johns Hopkins University before attending Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. After graduating from Hastings I passed the bar the first time and then worked for the law firm of Haight, Dickson, Brown, Bonesteel and Rigg, an insurance defense firm. I then worked in house for Bank of America and then Lloyds Bank California handling collection, bankruptcy and defense cases. Before opening my own practice, I worked for the collection law firm of Ross and Ivanjack. I have had my own practice since 1992.
Having worked for large corporations, I prefer advising and representing individuals. I like to think of myself as someone’s “family lawyer,” like a family doctor of years gone by. I have even been known to do house calls. As far as I am concerned, I consider the attorney and client a team that is trying to solve a problem and get to its goal as quickly and cheaply and effectively as possible.
As for my personal side, I like nature and wildlife. I like to hike. I like go to musical concerts. I like good food and traveling to new places. I also like more common things such as taking my dogs on a walk. Lastly, I am an avid reader of newspapers so that I know what is going on in the world. One of my favorite expressions is from Mr. Spock, whom I have always idolized, of Star Trek fame: “Live long and prosper.”
